About the Role:
Are you an experienced Control Systems Engineer with a passion for OT network architecture and secure system design? Join a high-performing team delivering critical infrastructure and industrial solutions across Australia. We’re seeking an OT Network Engineer with deep technical expertise and practical experience in designing and supporting robust operational networks.
Candidate Profile:
You will take ownership of the design, implementation, and support of Operational Technology (OT) networks underpinning complex SCADA and DCS systems. This role involves close collaboration with project teams, engineers, and clients to develop secure, reliable, and fit-for-purpose industrial networks tailored for demanding environments.
Desirable Experience and Skills:
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the scoping, design, and commissioning of industrial networks using a combination of fibre, copper, and wireless technologies
- Apply IEC 62443 design principles, particularly Zone and Conduit models, to create secure and segmented OT architectures
- Provide support for legacy devices requiring specialised routing or network configurations
- Integrate network infrastructure into complex SCADA/DCS environments across energy, water, and industrial sectors
- Develop high-quality design documentation, including network architecture diagrams, configurations, and security plans
- Participate in risk assessments, cybersecurity reviews, and OT/IT interface workshops
Experience and Skills
- Demonstrated experience as a Control Systems Engineer working on complex SCADA and/or DCS projects
- Proven experience in the design and implementation of industrial networks across multiple mediums (fibre, copper, wireless)
- Strong understanding of network design and configuration, including working with legacy OT equipment and constrained protocols
- Working knowledge of IEC 62443 and secure OT architecture frameworks
- Proficiency in using common network tools (e.g. Wireshark, SNMP tools, managed switches, firewalls)
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working in industrial automation or operational technology environments
- IEC 62443 certification (or demonstrated application of its principles in project delivery) OR Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification
- Practical experience with one or more OT cybersecurity platforms such as Claroty, Nozomi, Darktrace, Dragos, or Waterfall
- Current Australian driver’s licence
- Willingness to travel to client sites across metro and regional locations as required
